On May 15th – 31st 2019, artist Alketa Ramaj, brought to the Zeta gallery her personal exhibition titled “Lust”, curated by Odeta Stabenow.

...

The name of the exhibition was not its initial theme, but “Lust” has originated as a result of what was conceived and brought to life as time went by. Paintings and installations, these are the mediums through which Alketa Ramaj chooses to present a piece of the world, a presentation that has no predetermined intention, which comes without requiring a sophisticated meaning and focuses mostly on the sensation experienced. What sets this creative journey apart, all the way to its exhibition, is the mastery of the author by the creation and not the other way around.

Everything in the exhibition comes disconnected and at the same time interconnected with the sequel, as a binding thread, as an ongoing dream through the light colourful mist escalating from one extremity to another, obtaining artistic works through industrial objects as an internal impetus that promotes the strong desire to express and connect with the world, mainly through colour.

The close by positioning of the tableaux, contradicts and at the same time completes one another, it arouses the desire to discover the creative embryo up to the imagination of pre-creation or apocalypse, in a sensation of infinity or in a picture where nature’s spirituality is felt. Apart from everything, the exhibition is a sign of freedom or effort towards being free and unlimited.

* Alketa Ramaj graduated in 2006 from the Academy of Arts in Tirana. Her work is typified by an incessant curiosity and permanent study of new forms of expression, which reveals a striking independence in terms of applying her own critical and personal working methods. The emotional relationship the artist builds with the environment she lives in terms of social connection, historical and the political context are reflected in her practice that develops in different mediums.

She was the recipient of the 2012 Onufri Award and 2013 Ardhje Award. Her work has been exhibited in Albania and abroad in exhibitions and venues including: Déjeuner avec Marubi, (Vienna, Austria); Ex-Gratia, Collezione Giuseppe Iannaccone (Milan, Italy); Bienal de Curitiba ’17 (Curitiba, Brazil); Galerie Heike Strelow (Frankfurt/Main, Germany); Viennacontemporary (Vienna, Austria); 3rd Edition of Project Biennial of Contemporary “Art D-0 ARK Underground, Atomic Shelter” (Konjic, BIH); Bienal del Fin del Mundo, Mar Del Plata (Valparaiso, Chili); Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali (Bari, Italy); ISCP, international studio & curatorial program (New York, USA); Stacion, Center for Contemporary Art (Prishtina, Kosovo); La Fenice Gallery (Venice, Italy) etc.
