Harabel Contemporary Art Platform kicked off the new season with a talk led by Francesco Tenaglia, editor-in-chief of Mousse Magazine and artistic editor of Esquire Italia. The event in question took place in the premises of Harabel Platform on October 23rd, 2019, with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture.

Francesco Tenaglia mainly focused his talk on the activity of Mousse Magazine, a contemporary art magazine based in Milan. It was created with the aim of giving every article reflected in the press a proper assessment, care and autonomy. Since 2017 it has also been published in English, it is a trilogy, and along with other magazines such as Nero, Cura and Kaleidoscope, constitute the most important Italian contemporary art publishing companies.

Mousse Magazine was born in 2006 under the direction of Alessio Ascari and Edoardo Bonaspetti, with the primary aim of creating a magazine that would transcend the boundaries conditioned by classical institutional circles, as well as reach readers not directly related to contemporary art.  The magazine, which was distributed in institutions such as museums, foundations and private art galleries, soon covered the entire national territory, and began to expand internationally since its 15th edition (2008).

The magazine publishes interviews and essays by prominent names of contemporary international curators and critics. Distributed in 35 000 copies, Mousse Magazine is present in Italy in more than 400 locations (galleries, museums, foundations, bookstores, etc.). It is also distributed in: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom and USA.

In 2008 Mousse publication was born, a publishing house specialized in contemporary art, and in 2009 Mousse also created a visual and digital communication agency. Since 2015, Mousse has been taking care of miart, the international fair of modern and contemporary art in Milan.

Mousse publications include artists, writers, public and private institutions, galleries and other artistic and cultural initiatives. Their focus (publications) are artist monographs and books, pre-arranged and created in collaboration with the artist.
