The lives of others | Hasan Nallbani/Harabel Contemporary
Harabel Contemporary Art Platform is pleased to invite you, on Wednesday, January 22nd 2020, to the opening of the personal exhibition of the renowned artist Hasan Nallbani, titled “The Lives of Others”, at the FAB Gallery, University of the Arts. The exhibition is curated by Ajola Xoxa and will remain open from January 22nd – February 4th, 2020.
About the artist:
Hasan Nallbani was born in 1934, in the city of Berat (Albania), where he completed his elementary education. In 1949 he attended the Jordan Misja art school in Tirana and has been a student of the painter Nexhmedin Zajmi until 1954, the year he started working as a scenographer at the National Theater in Tirana. He studied painting at the Higher Institute of Arts in Tirana (1959-1964), at the atelier of the painter Guri Madhi.
Among the first paintings presented by him are “Refugees”, as well as a variety of landscapes from Tirana. Hasan Nallbani won the third prize at the national art competition with a tableau titled “Letër nga shtabi” (“Letter from Headquarters”) (1968); his personal exhibition was presented at the National Gallery of Art (1984); in the same year he participated in the Alexandria Biennale (Egypt);he has also exhibited his works at the Ankara Biennale (Turkey) (1986-1988); after the 1990s he continued with a series of exhibitions in Tirana (GKA), Berat, Vlora, Shkodra etc .; he has also had exhibitions in France (1993), in “Magazine” and in “Mediterranea” in Bari (Italy), (1998); he was named Best Visual Artist of the Year (2008) and was recently awarded the prize of the international competition “Onufri” (2010).
Hasan Nallbani is the designer of the iconography museum “Onufri” situated in the auxiliary facilities of St. Mary’s Cathedral in Berat Castle.
